Aleah Burns
Aleah Burns is an Texas based artist whose practice centers primarily on painting. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting at Baylor University. Following graduation, she plans to pursue an Masters in Fine Arts.
Burns’ work explores the complex and evolving relationship between humans and digital technology, using painting as a means to investigate how contemporary life is shaped by screens. Her paintings incorporate screens both literally, in the familiar forms of computers and phones, and abstractly, through overlapping rectangular shapes that embody the shape of screens, browsers, and other digital imagery. The screens both reveal and obscure elements of the composition, encompassing the modern duality of perception: the world we encounter through our devices and the world they quietly blur, fragment, or hide from view.
